Ol’ Factory Soy Candles has come a long way since 2008 and we are proud to have you included in our continual journey:
The Beginning
We began pouring soy candles after becoming frustrated with paraffin (oil companies take enough of our money) candles. Initially, making soy candles was a hobby and something we really enjoyed. We chose soy wax because it was grown in the US and highly sustainable. Also, they did not have concentrated black soot when burned. The very first scent made was Applesauce, named by our son Aydyn, who had made the actual sweet treat the Fall before.
A few weeks later, a very good friend who had received some as a gift and happened to run her own hair salon asked about our candles. She said she would be interested in selling them and wondered if we could work something out. Both my husband and I were and still are, graphic designers with a love of business and an artistry so, with him at the helm, we put our heads together and came up with the term “olfactory”. We had jokingly been referring to our kitchen and wood stove as “ye ole’ factory” from the start. We chose the soy bean as the main theme and began creating the line of logos of soy candles you see today.
New Website
This is not the first time that Ol’ Factory Soy Candles has had representation online. We designed a site back in 2010 with the hopes of launching our new creation. We spent countless hours on photo shoots and graphic design, we were ready to take the web by storm! Its hard to believe but back then there really wasn’t social media, we had Myspace but nothing like it is today and eventually, we closed down our server. To date, we have sold nearly 10, 000 candles! After a mind-blowing 2014 of retail and wholesale sales, we decided to bite the bullet and answer the call for a retail website. Our new site is shifting our sales focus to online to deal with our growth. We feature a fully functioning shopping cart with over 50 scents (and growing) to choose from. We also offer free shipping, (personal delivery if its local) on all orders.
Thanks for your patience and looking forward to Spring!
